so.....

bored. i am not even comprehending how bored i am. i am so not comprehending it that i can't even type with capitol letters anymore. or capital. i can never remember which one stands for which word.

my parents are "discussing" right now. in very loud voices. i'm starting to feel like violet. my parents are always arguing, my annoying little siblings can both run faster than me, and i wish i were invisible. only difference is that i can't be invisible.

wow, my feet are cold. and my dog is laying on me. she's a very warm puppy. i love my puppy. she has this pink little tongue that gives amazing kisses. whenever i cry, she always hops onto my lap and kisses my tears away. if i don't stop after awhile, she whines and puts her paws on my cheeks, like she's cradling my face. her eyes get all soft and worried, and she cocks her head to one side and licks my nose. it's like she's telling me that everything is all right, and that she loves me and she's there for me.

i think i want to message david archuleta on myspace and thank him for his album. i got it for christmas, and the songs on it really mean a lot to me. trouble is, will he actually get it, and will he just laugh? i guess it doesn't really matter. he doesn't know who i am, so if he laughs who cares! i think i will.....if i'm not too lazy.

my table looks so pretty. see? it's made out of alder and some sort of orangey-red wood that i forget the name of. it looks red because of the lacquer and finish that i put on it, a natural color is what i chose. the black edging in the mosaic top stinks really bad when you put it on. it's like tar, but it smells toxic. i think it is, actually. my teacher says it's called bondo, but my supervisor says that you only use that stuff for metal. oh well. i love it. i love it so much i even took pictures to share with you. here's how it turned out:

the drawer even opens!!!

yes, i know. it's pretty much amazing. i love it. next year, or sometime in college, i hope to make an armoir to match. yay. i love woods. be proud of me, q. i'm going to admit that i'm good at something. I AM GOOD AT BUILDING THINGS!!! yay.

love is....

My friend wrote this. I'm going to share it, because I have now been diagnosed with the following:

Love is a disease.
Symptoms may include, but are not limited to:
A feeling of weakness in the knees,
Chill, clammy hands,
A fluttering heart.
Known to cause hallucinations, insomnia,
And a dreamy, drowsy state of mind.
Love is a virus.
Once acquired, it controls the thoughts
And emotions of its victim.
There is no real cure; all we can do is wait
For it to run its course.
So settle in, snuggle up together,
And wait for the bug to pass.

I HATE THIS!!!! IT'S COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY STUPID!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRGGGGGGGG.

K, so this is not an ordinary "crush." This is the completely understated and quiet thing. I look for him in the halls, smile, speak normally, and I don't have any problems with any of the above symptoms. Out loud, anyway. This is the subdued and, well, almost real love, not a crush. Dumb. DUmb. DUMb. DUMB!!!!

There. My vent for the day. Boys are dumb. Especially a certain one. Who's amazing, gorgeous, sweet, sensitive, kind, funny, polite, happy, glowing.........

Stupid.

yesterday...

Was so much fun! My family and I spent the day in Salt Lake City, where we went to see "The Savior of the World" and the lights on Temple Square. It truly was amazing to go up there together.

Here are some pics:

In front of the big tree before "The Savior of the World."

Modern day sheep.

I got lucky on all of the following pictures. I don't know how I got them to look good:

Now more with people in them:

Meghan's make-shift nose warmer and Amanda's frozen gum.

In front of the Christos in the Visitor's Center.

All in all, it was a very fun day. Sure, we had our spats and little fights, but we all felt the Spirit a lot, too.

Festival of Trees

I got to go to Festival of Trees twice this year! It's held in the Sandy Expo Center in Salt Lake (ish) every year as a benefit for the Primary Children's Hospital. The first time I went was on Wednesday with my family. I saw pretty much all of the trees and all of the gingerbread houses, including the Twilight one with Edward in the tree outside and the five foot tall Wellington Castle replica. My favorite tree was made out of blown glass. COMPLETELY made of blown glass. It was absolutely amazing! My other favorite tree was, of course, the Twilight one. And then the one that was a Candy Land Castle. And an angel tree. And...yeah. I liked it a lot.

The next day I went during school with FBLA. So much fun. I spent most of my time making crafts, and the favorite one I did was a teddy bear for a child who has to spend Christmas in the hospital. At the festival, you can purchase a bear for five dollars to decorate and donate for a kid. I picked a white, bespectacled bear and dressed him up. I put on a red cap with a yellow rick-rack border, a red ribbon tie, and two yellow buttons on his tummy. I named him Artie. He was adorable, and we ended up on the news together! Horror of horrors, because I HATE the way I look, but Artie made up for it. I hope the kid who gets him likes him.

I love Festival of Trees. Decorating bears, coloring and painting ornaments, getting my face painted, looking at trees. It all makes me so happy. I wish it happened more often. But then it wouldn't be as special, I guess.

yay! sadie hawkins 2008

I'm not failing Multimedia anymore! I have an A again! Yes!!!!

Christmas trees are amazing, even when they only have lights, beads, and one bow on them. Can you tell mine isn't finished yet?

Sadie Hawkins was a couple of weeks ago. Here are some pics of me and my amazing date, Josh Pittman:

Eat this, Barney!

Barney and Godzilla fight in New York City. Josh and I won the sculpting contest.

Meri and Craig.

Yay! Fingerpainting!

Josh and me.

wow...

I have not posted in forever long. Sorry 'bout that. Too many things to worry about.

So I was diagnosed with more problems last week. Yippee. I'm failing three classes. Double yipyippee. Work is lame and my supervisor hates me. Well, I think he does. I'm not totally sure about that. He just is always mean.

Good thing that happened: I had time to eat lunch today and Mr. Carpenter didn't give us any homework. Which means that I have time to catch up on the homework assignments I missed so that I won't be even more behind. Yay.

I'm going to go play some games. See y'all.

back sprain...

If anyone asks me how I resprained my back, I will hold my head up proudly and say, "Trick or treating. I got fifteen pounds of candy. How much did you get?

Yes, yes, I know. Sprained back and I spent three hours walking around with a fifteen pound bag. Oh, but it was so fun! And guess what?!?!

So, I have had this secret, never fully blossomed and impossible crush on a boy in my Stake. He's a year younger than me, so that also makes it impossible. And his two sisters are best friends with my two sisters. Anyway, his name is Jake, and he's so nice. Halloween is his favorite night of the year. He stopped trick or treating about four years ago to create a haunted house for trick or treaters. Every year, screams fly up from the Thompsons's house.

I hate haunted houses. I scare easily and look like an idiot. But tonight, I decided to be brave for my little sister. She wouldn't go in until she saw me come out alive. So I went in alone. Jake greeted me in complete vampire garb.

"So, you're going it solo, eh? Alone, a nice girl like you?" he grinned.

"Oh, shut up. You're making it worse."

He shrugged, "That's my job."

Well, the first part wasn't that scary. His two twin brothers, Joseph and Hyrum (no joke), danced around in Grim Reeper costumes (they stopped trick or treating and they're six years old; they like helping Jacob) and I had to laugh. Then we reached a room where I couldn't see a thing.

I do not do well in small, dark places. I kind of started to freak out a little bit, and then he turned on this flickering light.

"Candy's on the table if you want it," he said.

I could see the table and the candy, but I couldn't see under the table. He tried to convince me that there was no one under there, and finally he crawled under himself.

"See? No one under...well. I am now. But there's no one else!"

He gave me a handful of candy and then looked at me, "You really are scared?"

I nodded.

He shook his head and laughed.

"Come here," he said, and took my hand.

AAAAAAAHHHHH!!! THAT scared me. ESPECIALLY when we got out of the last room and he didn't let go. Well, didn't scare in a bad way.

Yeah. That was the best part of the night. *insert high pitched girly squee!!!*

And I did get fifteen pounds of candy. It's half as heavy as my backpack, which is 30 pounds. So ha.

NEW HOME NEEDED!!! IMPORTANT!!!

GRAY AND BLACK, GREEN EYED TABBY MALE IN NEED OF A GOOD HOME

My sister found this little cat lost and alone in our neighborhood. We can't keep him, because my other sister is severely allergic to cats and my dog would eat him.

This little kitty is seriously precious. He has the sweetest temperament, more dog like than cat. I have always hated cats, but I would give anything to keep this fellow. That should... Read More tell you something about him. He's special.

My family is willing to pay half of the $80 adoption fee to see that he goes to a good home. The fee covers the adoption papers, identification tags, micro chipping, the first check-up, and spay/neuter. Please consider it! He's amazing!

If you're interested, please let me know as SOON AS POSSIBLE. If he doesn't get adopted soon (the next three or four days), he will be put to sleep. The adoption agencies are all full at this time, so even if I tried to get him out of the pound in American Fork there'd be no where for him to go.

i hurt...

I sprained my back on Tuesday. It had been hurting for a couple of weeks (k, more like three and a half). I didn't think anything of it until Tuesday. I was on my way to History and tripped up the stairs. Not down, up. I'm so talented.

I stayed in bed Wednesday with a heating pad and Ibuprofen. And today. I'm going to complain now...

First of all, it hurts. Secondly, it's like my mom thinks I'm faking it. Thirdly, what are the odds that I sprain my back the week of my most looked forward to holiday? Halloween is tomorrow, folks. And I might not be able to go.

Grr. I hate this.

slacking off...

I apologize for my lack of posting. My fault. I really have no excuse.

K, so first term is OVER!!! Yay. Grades weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. They actually exceeded my expectations. 7 As and one A-. Yay!!!!!!!!

up to my forehead in dirt...

I had an adventure today. While I was vacuuming out the Head Custodian office (which is shared between the five of us crew members) I accidentally sucked up an unseen, gallon ziplock bag. Incidentally, the vacuum became quite clogged, so I had to figure out how to get it out.

Problem-my fingers couldn't reach the bag in the tube. Neither could the scissors, tweezers, or any other sharp, grabby object I could find. So get this. I flip the vacuum right side up again and realize that the bottom can become detached. It has screws in it! So, I pull out the drill and start going.

Problem-drill twists screw in tighter, and the backwards function on the drill doesn't work. Lame. So I decide to get a regular old screw driver. Very nice. I worked at the screws, and out of habit I placed one in my mouth. It was burning hot! At that moment, Dustin came in, took one look at me covered in dirt, and said, "What happened now?" See, I clog or dismantle my equipment regularly enough that this was said calmly. I'm incompetent when it comes to my job.

I finally dismantle the vacuum in a way that I can reach the stupid bag that caused all the trouble in the first place. It took me about twenty minutes to take it apart. Dustin sat down next to me and began watching as I picked up the pieces to put back together. It was a lot easier than taking it apart. No need for instructions. Just the concept of inverse operations.

For the first time in my life, I have now taken apart something bigger than an old video game controller. And this time, I was able to put it back together so it worked just the same. :)

Next problem-I didn't realize that I had cut my finger open while working on the vacuum, or that my hands were extremely black with dirt from the inside of the vacuum. When I got out to the car, mom asked me why my face was bleeding and why I was covered in black grime. I looked in the mirror above the dash and had to laugh. Forehead, nose, cheek, neck, and ears had black dirt with a little mix of blood from my finger. I must have wiped my hand across my face and hadn't realized that I'd gotten all dirty.

All in all, it was a great adventure. I'm quite proud of myself, seeing as I put the contraption back together without a hitch. And getting dirty isn't all that bad. It's actually kind of relaxing to just let go, take something apart, and get completely messy in the process.

i am awesome. and so are you

Listen to the puppy. Now!

Hey. It's cute, even if it is spelled wrong (Your should be You're. Oh well).

assemble to fight drugs and violence...

Or make a fool of myself. For those of you who attended first assembly, I apologize for embarrassing you. For those of you who did not attend first assembly, here's the scoop:

You know how they did an obstacle course which was supposedly for the purpose to show how it is to be drunk? Well, not thinking, I raised my hand because they asked for volunteers. When they actually called on me, I was excited. Then I realized that the possibility that I would have to do something stupid in front of half the student body hit me. I was not happy.

I was assigned to the group of all girls, except for one boy who was designated the "model." The object was simple: win the race. How to do so: place the baseball bat on the floor, touch your nose to it, and spin five times. Crawl as fast as you can through the flimsy cardboard tunnel. Pick up the second bat and repeat the first directions. Swerve through the cones, pick up an item of clothing, and dress your "model."

Lucky for me I did not get dizzy. Hey, I'm a dancer! You cross your eyes once, and walah! Dizziness be gone! So yeah. Kind of defeated the purpose of the exercise. I was the only contestant who didn't fall down. But my team won.

For my trouble and humiliation in front of a very bored audience, I received a fun size Crunch bar.

Overall, the assembly was really lame. But going on stage was fun, even if I ended up with a headache from the candy bar. It was fun.

music

For Multimedia, we are currently working on creating album covers (without the help of already in place Internet pictures) and then editing music we bring in. I made a cover for the song "Wake Up America" by Miley Cyrus. I know it's lame, but I figured I'd be safe bringing in that song. I may get made fun of, but at least I don't have to worry about swearing or sexual innuendos that could get me in trouble.

Here's the cover:

:P

I do not feel good about myself, no matter how many scriptures I read or prayers I say. I can't sleep, either. Which is why I'm posting this. Instead of increasing my brain activity, using the computer actually makes me tired. Weird.

So, yeah. I know life really doesn't suck, and I can probably blame it on hormones, but if feels like it.

Enough complaining. Good thing that happened-Mom took me and my sisters to Wendy's and we got food! It was happy. And my seminary teacher called me to see how I was doing. That was happy too. He said, quote, "Today was dumb because you were gone. It wasn't as happy." Awwww...makes me feel good.

Yeah, I didn't go to school today. The burnout I am facing calls for some serious "mental health day" time. Which was also good. I didn't do anything today except play Jewel Quest, read "Crown Duel," "Court Duel," and start "First Test." I went to work, got teased, teased back, and made money. Always nice. Then I had that audition. Grrrr. Ah, well.

See, life really doesn't suck. It just feels like it. Like I want to stick my tongue out at everything and say "I DO NOT CARE."

But that would be mean. So I won't do it.

here we go again

I am having issues about my blog background again. Everyone else's that I read are so nice and colorful. But I don't want to change mine. But my heart sinks everytime I see it. Actually, my heart sinks with everything right now.

I think I'm depressed. Maybe I need a vacation. Which reminds me...

FALL BREAK IS NEXT WEEK!!!!!

audition

I really hate auditioning. I wonder why I keep doing it.

So. I just got back from auditioning for "A Christmas Carol." My mom said that I did an awesome job. But she's my mom, right?

Well, not only did my mom say that, but so did the auditioners. But they probably think I'm a total airhead. Here's why:

The song I sang is from "My Fair Lady." The ever famous, "Wouldn't it be Loverly." I did it because not only would it show off my ability to do a cockney (or American version) accent, but it also shows off my voice. Not that I have a great voice.

Before I started singing, I went over to the piano player and showed him that I would be singing straight through the song, but skip the first ending and head straight to the second. I asked him if that would be okay, and if it was too much of a pain that I could do something different. It wasn't until later after I auditioned and was in the car going home that I was informed that he is a professional pianist, not the community theater volunteer I am used to. I hope I didn't hurt his feelings or sound like I thought he was no good! Airhead!!!!!! :P

Anyway-according to my mom and the auditioners, I "blew their doors off." So much so that they asked me to read for the part of Martha, the oldest of the Cratchit children (spelling, I know). I went out to get the part to read, and when I came back I didn't walk into the room. I shuffled because I was nervous, kind of like a straightfooted Charlie Chaplan walk. I was scared! I've never read at an audition before!!!!

Conversation-

I looked down at my paper, frowned, and looked at the three people at the table.
"I've never read before (how stupid does that sound?). Would Martha be more proper British or cockney?"

They looked at each other in surprise, deliberated for a few moments, and then one said "Well, she's not high born, but she's not low, low born either."

I frowned, looked at my paper, and began talking to myself. OUT LOUD.
"Okay. So she wouldn't talk like a merchant's daughter. She'd talk like Bob (her father). She'd talk like Bob's daughter."

I looked at them again, brightly said, "Okay!" and babbled out the lines. It came out too fast, and I just couldn't stop the words tumbling over my lips. Oh, well. They told me it was very cute, and that they liked me.

I then proceeded to wave good-bye to them, turn to the piano player, and again show off my airheadedness-"Good job! You were awesome! Thanks."

And I skipped out of the room.

Am I stupid or what?

mistake

turns out i missed two days. now i'm really depressed.

darn

so i missed posting yesterday. i was burned out, ugly, and exhausted. goal disintegrated. guess i'll have to start over.

penelope

I just watched the cutest movie! It's called "Penelope" and stars James McAvoy and Christina Ricci. James has the most beautiful blue eyes, and Christina is gorgeous.

It's such a cute movie. Watch it and see! I loved it!

However, I didn't do my math homework. Well, four problems left. I just don't know how to do them. :P

home again

Well, I just got home about ten minutes ago after an uneventful four hour drive. Conference was good (I think I fell asleep for most of President Monson's fourth session talk, wasn't sure) and I learned some things that I need to improve on.

Walking in the door and being covered in puppy kisses is an amazing feeling. Walking into your bedroom and seeing two hours worth of cleaning to be done is a not so amazing feeling. At least all of my homework that's due tomorrow is finished.

And guess what else I have to do tomorrow? Find Taylor. And actually talk to him. In person. I'm nervous, but very excited!!!

to grandmother's house we go!

I'm up in Flaming Gorge again, on a beautiful, foggy, leafspattered day. And I'm serious that it's gorgeous. We've been watching General Conference with a loverly scene of the meadow out the big picture window.

I love it up here. It's so quiet and secluded, and my grandparents' have the funniest sayings and ideas. It's like they live in their own little world. I like it a lot.

Funny. I created my blog up here in Flaming Gorge a year ago August. That's kind of cool, no?

adult roles

Now I know why I've never wanted to grow up. It's hard, wanting so badly to move out but dreading all of the responsibilities that come with independence. For example: taxes, taxes, taxes, bills, payments, time, transportation, taxes, kids, relationships, having fun (is that possible?), friends, school, taxes.

I think I'm going to look for Neverland tonight. Then I can still move out, but the responsibility is so much more minimal.

oh!!!

I just remembered a joke I wanted to share!

What did one snowman say to the other snowman?

Is it just me, or does it smell like carrots?

goal

I am only writing this so that I can say that I post every single day. That is my goal. It's like writing in my journal.

Some of today was good. But the most recent bits were horrid. I don't want to write them down right now. I'm too tired, and I'll just start crying again.

Thanks for being true friends, girls/guys. It means so much to me.

wOw

tony, greg, and mclovin (don't know his first name) had the great idea to create an album cover for the ringtone mosquito. read that with a hint of sarcasm in your voice. it was not a great idea. it hurt! i don't think they'll actually do it though. since the assignment for multimedia is to take a song and create an album cover around it, i don't think ringtones count.

and i know that lately i've taken to writing in all lower case letters. it's easier that way. and i kind of like the change. it's....me"ish" at the moment.

not listening...

i am completely sympathizing with TC right now. i am having the hardest time focusing.

monitor is going off now.

i'm getting annoyed

My sister is so annoying. She's been sitting on my bed for about half an hour telling me how I'm a future Democrat because I'm not answering her questions, and that I'm making faces because I'm pretending to not listen to her. I'm making faces because I'm trying not to lose my temper. She's calling me a liar, and being an obnoxious brat.

Wanna know why?

She wants to borrow my jewelry for school tomorrow. I said no.

I'm going to continue to ignore her, even though she's now telling me how stupid it is that I organized my shelves with the stuffed animals on top and my scriptures and other church items under them. "That's your priority! No wonder you're such a selfish jerk!"

She's asking me if she can use my jewelry again, because she thinks I'm not paying attention.

And now I've lost my temper.

oops

I spelled installment wrong. Sorry.

don't shoot me!

I promise, promise, promise that I will post the last enstallment of my Homecoming adventures soon. I just have so much homework!!! I will do it soon, though. I'm really sorry for the long wait!

wow

Isn't this picture beautiful?

why did they name it orem?

I made this up a while ago when I was mad at the people in my ward. As most of you know, I don't live in MVHS's boundaries. The kids in my ward make fun of me and are really mean a lot, so I thought of this when I was upset.

Do you know why they called it Orem?

(whiny, neeneer, neeneer, neeneer voice):

BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T SPELL MOUNTAIN VIEW!!!

Haha. I'm funny.

double duty

I was called to be the Second Counselor in the Laurel presidency today. Now I've got two callings. Interesting.

My mom commented about my first calling the other day, after I "bought" a date. She was all like, "You're the only missionary I know who can date!" This is probably because I actually was set apart as a missionary for the Special Needs Mutual group on Wednesday night. Kind of funny.

I wonder why I got called to both. They must have been desperate ;).

AP Environmental Science Rock/Mineral Lab Test

For the past three weeks (ish), my class has been studying, memorizing, and learning 62 different minerals and rocks (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic). The test was 20 multiple choice questions based on the mineral and rock properties we learned, 6 samples of minerals/rocks we had never seen before and had to identify using the properties and compositional rules, and 40 rock/mineral samples that we had to name by sight.

Hard much? Yes. Study much? Over 40 hours total-in class, before class at 6:30, after school for half an hour every few days, late into the night with textbook and field book. One hour per rock. Nah, just kidding. Stress much? In tears last night. Notes much? 38 pages.

And after all of that, the sweat and tears, sleepless nights full of rocks racing through my head, and the constant droppage of rare samples owned by my teacher--------

I PASSED!!! 84%!!!! I'M SO HAPPY!!!!

I never want to look at another rock again.

But I will. I'm like that.

I'm going to bed. I better not dream about any rocks, or one is going through Mr. Clark's window.

exhausted...but happy

I've felt like this all day:

But I also feel like this because it's Friday! No, I do not feel like Mars dust or rocks. I am sick of rocks. But I feel smiley like this crater:

i've got a date

Well, I decided I'd bid for a date today at my school's date auction. The "property" in question was a certain Taylor J. The bidding got so high that they decided to split the price between me and the other bidding girl, so we each get a date with him.

I only bid because it's for a fundraiser to earn money for a boy in our school who needs a kidney transplant. It wasn't until I got to class that I realized who exactly I was going out with.

First off, he's a Senior. Secondly, he's extremely good looking. Third, he's one of the most popular guys in the entire school and Student Body Vice-President.

First off, I'm a Junior. Secondly, I'm not very pretty. Third, I'm one of the least popular nobodies in the entire school and a complete Hermione Granger, hair, grades, breakdowns, and everything.

Compatible? Not. I am now extremely nervous and cannot think of a single thing to do. What do you plan for a date with the gorgeous, very popular Student Body Vice-President who you've never spoken to and you think has too many cars? (j/k, that video was funny)

I'm going to ask him what he wants to do. Maybe he can come up with some ideas and a group to go with.

Greg says that I should suggest to him that he pay for the date because I "paid" for him. I dunno. Greg says he'd go for it, but I don't even know him. How can I suggest that?

Sheesh. This is so complicated. All I wanted was to donate to a good cause. It'll probably turn out all right.

I hope.

something good happened today

But I can't remember what it was. I remember what's bad-but not good. Hm. I'm going to be thinking about what was good, because I know something was.

To be continued

i am going to bed

Ever felt like that before? :)

conflicting

Right now, I feel like I'm three or four different people. I'm all confused about how I feel.

Lame.

waking up

For about two hours last night, I kept hearing people yelling at me to wake up. First it was Q, then it was TC, then it was Chels, then it was Suzzie, and so on.

I'm kind of annoyed! Stop haunting my dreams, people! I could still sleep for two more hours! :) :D

Weird.

question

So, I got a comment from someone saying that it was creepy topost on a blog of someone you don't know. I apologized and said I wouldn't post again; I was only interested in the cool bird picture that was posted.

Have you guys ever posted on a blog of a person you don't know? I didn't mean anything by it-I was just trying to be friendly. Besides, she did ask if anyone knew what the bird was, and I had a close guess.

I'm not trying to justify myself, and I feel really bad for scaring her, but has anyone else ever done that?

If the person I'm talking about reads this, again, I am so sorry. Please accept my apologies-I really, really didn't mean anything by it.

Dang it, I feel so bad!

new idea

I am stealing an idea from Amber, a blogger who I read a lot. She searches for images that go with what she's thinking about or how she's feeling, so I decided to do it too. Why? Because it's a good idea.

self diagnosis

I have collected and organized data from several different people who shall remain nameless who all have said these same statements in varying word usage:

1. You are such a fun person to talk to, because you talk about so many different things.

2. You are the hardest person to follow in a conversation, because you jump to so many different subjects.

3. You are so random! I swear your brain never stops processing things!

4. Do you always talk like that?

I have come to the conclusion that I suffer from a condition called BAHD, or Brain Attention Hyperactivity Disorder, meaning that my particular brain cannot stay on the same subject for more than five minutes without severe conscious effort. So I am not ADHD. I am merely BAHD.

Salmon

That's what a Kokanee looks like when it's ready to spawn. You probably knew that, but it's still cool.

Homecoming 2008-2009 Part III

7:15
Still in the parking lot waiting for Jason and the rest of his crew...again.

7:20
Crossing the Himalayas!!! (speed bumps...haha)

7:25
We decide (Andrew and Jordan) to try and lose the car following us (Jason and the rest). Chelsea and I encourage them, and we set off to a cul-de-sac. When they pull up next to us, we take off and soon lose them by turning down a side street. We proceed to park next to Jordan's house.

7:31
Sprinkler attack. Jordan gets a little wet and performs an amazing side step hop thing, then helps me out. He has such strong hands. No, really. I know that sounds dumb, but it's true.

7:35
Chelsea and I wait outside while the boys go flag down the other car. We pretend to be Cinderella, and tip toe along the flagstones under Jordan's porch. Little did we know that the kitchen window was open, and Bro. and Sis. Raddatz were watching us. They haven't even met me and they already know I'm a goofball. Sheesh.

7:38ish
Entering my date's house was kind of unnerving. I've never been good with the meet the parents sort of thing, but I was immediately unnervousified when I saw Jordan's little brother Kyle decked out in a red cummerbund with matching bowtie, and his little sister Mandy dressed in a pretty purple formal with her hair all pulled up. Amy, the baby, glared at me most of the time I was there, and I figured it out after we left. I was with her brother! "Jordan's not yours, he's mine!" So cute.

7:45
After thanking Sis. Raddatz for the beautiful corsage she made me, I was "helped" by a blushing Jordan into my chair. It was rather funny, watching him stand there after everyone but he and I were seated, realizing that his brother was making miming motions to pull the chair out for me, say "Oh!", and get to it. Luckily he didn't push the chair in for me. That could have been a disaster.

7:50
Before the first course arrived, Jason mentioned that he thought Mandy was very cute. That brought up a lot of jokes about how he was really going to take Mandy to the dance and not Jane. Jordan did not like that. “No, he’s not.” “No.” “Uh uh.” “No.” All very firmly said, which Jordan usually is not. He’s very protective of his sisters, and he’s so cute with them too. You can tell that he loves his family very much.

The salads are being served. Andrew sits down from taking off his jacket, knocks into the table, and water spills everywhere! It was so funny! No one got seriously wet, and we had enough napkins to mop up what hadn't already been taken care of by the tablecloth. It was the butt of many jokes for the rest of the evening. Drew took it stoically, even making up some himself. It was great.

Another fun thing about the salads was that it was very quiet, until Jordan bit into his first crouton. The look on his face was so funny! He didn't expect it to be quite so loud, and I couldn't help but start to giggle. Everyone else started having problems with the croutons, and when Jane pointed it out, Jordan said "Yeah, they're pretty loud. As Sarah knows." Then Derek tried to stab one of his, and it exploded. It was so funny! I'm laughing right now as I type it.

We all have something in common. Jordan, Drew, Chelsea, Jane, Jason, Ann, Adam, Chelsea, Derek, and I all ate our cucumbers. None of us at our tomatoes.

8:15
Bro. Raddatz is an amazing cook! The plates were each beautifully presented by Mandy and Kyle, who were very serious about their jobs as head waiter and assistant. Everything was delicious, and then Derek found a carrot with a face on it amid his girlfriend’s vegetables. “No, it really has a face!” he protested when everyone laughed, but I saw it. There was a green smile, and two little tiny pieces of broccoli leaf made up the eyes. Chelsea wouldn’t eat it, and Derek wanted to save it. None of the girls went for that, but I thought it was funny.

Again, dinner was very quiet. Jokes were passed between the boys, and the new word “fwierd” came into existence. Fweird means fun-weird. It came about because I said something, and everyone started to laugh. I sighed and said, “I’m so weird. Sorry.” Jordan said, “Nah, you’re fun. It’s a fun weird.” Drew nodded, raised his finger, and said “Fweird.” That began a series of text messages around the table. Boys are so fweird.

Oh, and I was the first one done. As usual. Jordan was last. We compensate for each other, no?

8:50
Adam needed to find a bathroom during the meal, so Jordan told him to make sure that Adam remembered that the light switch was on the outside of the room. Adam forgot, and we heard a cry “It’s dark!!!” That brought Bro. Raddatz running with the camera, and he snapped one of Adam when he came out the door. I hope they send around the pictures they took at dinner. Some of them are pretty funny.

9:00
Cheesecake, anyone? Or how about four different kinds of cheesecake? I was so torn between all four, so I ended up having Jordan choose for me (the following was said very quietly as the dessert was being brought in-just in case Chelsea is wondering what I’m talking about :).

“Strawberry? Hmmm…well, you’re sweet enough, but something a bit more sophisticated. Key lime-ah, good choice. But, you’re not a very tart personality. Turtle? You’re looking at it like that’s a no. You wouldn’t mind it? Still, I think it’s a bit too immature, you know with the candy and things in it. So how about? Ah ha! A nicely marbled chocolate and vanilla, very rich, simple, and sophisticated. Not to mention, my favorite.”

Isn’t that funny? He’s so sweet, and he just comes up with things out of the blue. Still, he ended up having key lime. The chocolate marble was gone. He’s so sweet, but not tart. I think he should have taken strawberry.

9:15
The decision is made to go to the dance. It’s getting late, and the boys are worried that we’ll miss it. Getting out the door takes about half an hour, since I have wanted to meet Jordan’s two dogs, and I also wanted to talk to his little sisters and his mother. Jordan rolls his eyes and says, “Meet the ditziest dog in America,” and calls in his Boxer. I disagreed with him. Boxers are extremely smart, but they don’t want to do any more than they have to. They have mastered the art of playing stupid, which his is clearly not. He didn’t agree with me, but his mom did. Then there was the chocolate lab, who was so excited to meet me that she almost knocked me down. Jordan was impressed by how well I talked with his dogs. He liked that I treated them like people.

Then I got to talk to his sisters. I bent down to talk to Amy, who was standing up in her high chair. “Is Jordan your brother?” She glared at me. “You love Jordan, don’t you? I think he’s very nice, and he likes you a lot.” I was nearly jumped on, but her mom caught her, so I received a kiss on the cheek instead. Kids know what you’re talking about too.

Mandy was a different story. When I went up to talk to her, she was tugging on Jordan’s coat tails. He put his hands on his hips and said, “What?” She wiggled her finger at him, and he bent down (a long way, because she’s tiny!). She whispered something in his ear. He whispered back. She whispered again. He whispered back. She giggled and gave him a big kiss on the cheek. “Jordan, what did she say?” I asked quietly. He blushed, put his finger to his lip, and shook his head, “It’s a secret.”

Then I felt someone tugging on my dress. I looked down, and there was Mandy. I bent to talk to her, and she whispered in my ear, “Jordan likes you.” I whispered back, “I like him, too.” “I love my brother,” she said. “And I know he loves you very much, Mandy. He’s a very nice boy.” Mandy nodded seriously, “He likes you.” And off she skipped. “What did she say, Sarah?” Jordan asked. I put my finger to my lips, shook my head, and smiled. “It’s a secret.” He snapped his fingers and said, “Darn it! When girls whisper, it makes me nervous.”

Then we had to take pictures together. Jordan and I stood rather awkwardly next to one another. His mom said, “Jordie, put your arm around her!” He complied, but put it around my neck. Everyone laughed and cried, “No, her waist Jordan!” He had the kind of Ron Weasleyish look of “Where?” on his face, and didn’t move. We had our picture, then his parents wanted to get a picture of the tails on his coat to send to his brother on a mission. With a very pained look on his face, he pulled them out behind him and posed. Bro. Raddatz let everyone get a good laugh before he took the picture, and Jordan was ready to go out the door. He stopped on the doorstep (we were the last couple out) and spoke to his mom for a bit. “Last minute instructions?” I teased. He shook his head, “No. Just thanking her. She’s great.”

Is he not an excellent person to go out with? All night long he was just so nice and sweet. It was amazing!

Kokanee Salmon Day

My family and I decided that we would take a drive up to Strawberry Reservoir just above Heber. It was a pretty drive, full of leaves the color of bananas, caution cones, and first aid crosses. Surprisingly there were no fights, arguments, or thrown punches the whole way up the canyon. That's got to be a first.

As we were driving along, we saw this sign placed on the side of the road proclaiming that today was Heber Valley's Kokanee Salmon Day. I begged to turn right so we could go look, and everyone else agreed.

Smokey the Bear was there! And so I also begged to get my picture taken with him. Amanda was happy to go with me; Meghan was more reluctant "I don't want to. It's like getting your picture taken with Santa Claus!" But she did, when I told her she was being too grown-up and needed to act more immature.

Inside the Visitor's Center, there were three tables set up to teach about various parts of wildlife and the Strawberry Reservoir. I was particularly interested in the huge underwater sonar torpedo, used by the Scuba Diving Rescue teams. The torpedo sends out sound waves which are then sent to a computer, showing pictures of the lake or river floor. When the sonar picks up something out of the ordinary, it shows the object in the picture on the computer map. The operator can then click on the map beacon and find the exact coordinates of the object, i.e. boat, body, or other such thing. It was kind of sad that they've had to use it at the reservoir so many times, once two years ago when five people drowned. Still, the technology is amazing.

The other great part about the Visitor's Center was that they had an exotic animal show. The couple showed various animals that are allowed as pets in Utah but require special care. One was a boa constrictor, very scary and I touched it! BLEGH!! Another was an African Hedgehog named Huff 'n Puff, which was very cute, prickly, and liked some smell that I had on my hands, so he started drooling. There was also a green parrot who said hello, uh-huh, nope, yep, sorry, and good-bye. He likes almonds. My favorite though was a fluffy, oh-so-soft, grey Chinchilla named Gizmo. She was just precious!!! Almost bit Amanda because she kept touching Gizmo's whiskers, and she didn't like that.

After I looked at the animals for awhile, I went outside to see a midnight black raven, a beautiful oat brown barn owl, and a magnificent sienna hawk. They were really neat to look at.

I got tired of being pushed around by kids half my size, and I felt that if I left the birds and animals wouldn't be as crowded, so I started walking down the boardwalk to go see the Kokanee Salmon. There weren't very many swimming upstream as I walked along the trail, but as I reached the fishery I began to see the stop sign red and Christmas tree green of the salmon, fighting to get upstream to lay and fertilize their eggs. They truly are fascinating to look at. I got to the fishery and there were hundreds of salmon in the fish traps, which is where fish are caught to show people and also where the eggs can be regulated and transported by Fish and Wildlife workers. I learned how to tell the difference between male and female salmon: males have a prominent jutting bone above their nose and a higher hump along the back, which is mainly how you tell them apart. When ready to spawn, females have a large bulge where the eggs are held under their stomachs.

Gospel truth: the eggs really are orange. I know this because one of the workers caught a female fish, and she kind of exploded. At least the fish was already dead, but still. Kind of sad.

I met three awesome dogs-Rusty, Whimpers, and Prince. They were all pretty much amazing, each with their own personality and each very prone to kiss you. :)

All in all it was a pretty fun day. The scenery was beautiful, the people great, and the wildlife fascinating. Not to mention Smokey gave me a wrist band and eraser. That pretty much made my day.

This picture isn't from today, but it's from an adventure we had last fall. It seemed kind of appropriate, since I didn't have control of the digital camera this trip. :P Mom wouldn't let me have it. Darn.

P.S. I promise I'll post the third part of Homecoming tomorrow. Don't shoot me!!!

addicted

Am I the only one who posts more than twice a day? I must be really obsessed with this thing, because I check for other people's new posts, don't see any, and post on mine.

Hey, it's fun! I love this thing! Blogger is amazing!!!!

prompts

I found this really cool Scholastic website that generates random writing prompts. You choose a grade (1-4) and then press the spin buttons or lever, and random stuff spits out. Here's some examples:

-Describe a day in the life of an awkward vampire who has to save the world.
-List five characteristics of a greedy stork who ignores orchestras.
-Write a brief biography of a brainy orangutan who is the worst singer in the world.

Funny, huh? Feel free to write stories for these, email me, and I'll choose the ones that are the best written or that I like the best and I'll post them.

trying...

so hard not to complain. it's been a rough day again.

on the up side, mom let me drive to work again. and i got a strawberry lemonade from the vending machine (in the faculty lounge since i'm staff, so it's only 50 cents!) and then the Student Council gave us custodians a box of donuts, because they felt bad that Spirit Week had been such a big mess. they were pretty good donuts, actually.

on the downer side, i'm just depressed and i've got no idea why.

on the upper side, it's cloudy. and the dishwasher is making nice sounds. and my puppy loves me.

smart board

Multimedia has been full of stupid Microsoft commercials, people being knocked down by sledders, Google Map knowing everything, and now a smart board that is stealing several people's attention. Okay, so it had mine for a while, but I got tired of having my drawings erased by the boys.

Smart board is so fun! I like it, because no one expects the picture to look good. Besides that, you can easily fix errors and have all of the computer options on a gigantic white board, just waiting to be played with.

I'm getting redundant. It must be Friday.

aburrido

This class is so boring. And so is study hall. Hope she doesn't catch me blogging! :D
The risk just makes it so much more fun!

doggie

So I was looking at my template while waiting for the page to load and I realized that the camouflage pattern makes the face of a dog over and over again. It's a very cute, very determined dog.

What the random, right?

jealous

So I've been reading a lot of my friends blogs lately, and I'm realizing how cute and fun their layouts and posting style is. I compare mine, and it's camoflauge. How lame is that? I probably should be more like my friends.

See, I get told a lot that I'm more "masculine" than "feminine" and I need to act more like a girl. I need advice. Should I change my background to be more normal? I mean, I know I'm on the Air Force/Military road right now, because I want to do that when/if I ever grow up.

I'm confused. I'm hurt because boys are stupid (nod to Chelsea). And I just don't know what to do. Either I play to what I'm interested in (Woods, Multimedia, Air Force, field sciences, et cetera) or I do what people want and fit in better. I know everyone is going to say "Beeeee yourself, do what you like, and don't care about what anyone else says." Ha, Q, I'm quite the mind reader, aren't I? :) Still, I'm going to ask anyway. What should I do?

sluffing?

I couldn't wake up today. Mom told me to sleep through first period and go to second. Well, I woke up, ate breakfast, and decided I didn't want to go to second period. Spanish 4 is lame, and I can just email my teacher for my homework. So yeah. Today is the first day this school year that I have sluffed a class. I love it.

Now I'm going to justify myself. I'm burned out!!! It's so lame because school has only been in for, what, four weeks? Less maybe? I will be going for third and fourth period, mainly because I can't afford to miss Science and I like it anyway, and I'd go to Woodshop even if the building were on fire. I love that class!

multimedia second draft

K, here's what the poster looks like after I worked on it today. I'm kind of unhappy with some of it, so when I get in class again on Friday I'm going to ask Mr. Brown if there's a way to make it more fluid.

Lemme know what you think:

education

I am amazed at the redundancy in the school systems. I took Teen Living in 9th grade, and hear I am a few years later taking the exact same class under a different name. Adult Roles is seriously exactly the same, and it's kind of annoying.

I've decided that going into some type of geology field would not be a terrible thing. Rocks and minerals are so much easier to deal with than people. Which is why I think
Mr. Clark became a geophysicist. Numbers and abiotic material. Perfect for him ;).

So yeah, I'm in school right now. Bored out of my mind, as usual. At least I got all of my homework done last night. Finally.

Anyone available to hang out Friday night? Or is there a football game at home or something?

...

I'm going to bed now. I'm sick of history and I hate Algebra.

Good night. Loves!

...

my pen died

At this moment in time...

I HATE APUSH!!!!

School Today

45/45 on my Spanish test today!!! Yayuh!!!

So, last week I accidentally sanded the tip of my finger off when I was running the beltsander in woodshop. It kind of hurt, but it was mostly just annoying. Then today...this needs a new paragraph.

Today was an adventure in woodshop. I didn't touch the beltsander, if that's what you're wondering. No, I accidentally touched the blade on the bandsaw. While it was cutting my wood. Ouch. It only took off a little bit of skin, but all of the boys were freaking out and ran to get the teacher. There wasn't any blood, for crying out loud! Anyway, I'm all like "It's just a scratch, no big deal." I turn around, and there's a giant spider hanging in front of my face. A real live one, dangling from a thread. I immediately drop my wood, scream, and run and hide behind Josh.

Obviously everyone starts to laugh. "Just a scratch, and then this!!!" Brody cried.

Yeah. It was lame.

random messing around

This is before I "learned" Photoshop in class.

Homecoming 2008-2009 Part II

4:30 P.M.
Second shower of the day, because the activity in the morning was actually quite physical. Not like that, for all of you who automatically think of what I told my mom last night [Martie, this is you (for those of you out of the loop, I'll explain later)]. All of the running around made me sticky, so I hopped into the shower for a very cold rinse. Dishwasher was running. Loverly.

4:45 P.M.
Make-up and hair time! My mom loves dances; it's the only time I let her touch my hair without doing it grudgingly. Up in little rhinestone clips it goes, gel to stop frizz, gel again, take it out, straighten part, in go the clips, out they come, in, out, gel-fin!!! Then comes make-up...

5:15 P.M.
Make-up. We're doing eyes. :)

5:30 P.M.
My mother says that I am the only person that she knows who is harder to put lipstick on than eyes. She says that I can keep my eyes open forever, but as soon as my mouth opens out come the yawns, giggles, and other such things. Silly, right? I dunno. I just can't sit still when stuff if by my mouth. I either want to eat it or I want to get away from it. :)

5:45 P.M.
On goes the dress! One problem-the stays are so tight that I can't bend over to lace up my shoes. So, mom had to do it for me. I felt like Cinderella.

6:00 P.M.
He's supposed to be here.

6:01 P.M.
Pacing

6:02 P.M.
Pacing

6:03 P.M.
Hit in the face with a tennis ball and join in the game.

6:04 P.M.
Resume pacing

6:05 P.M.
Mom found the camera. Picture time. I am picky about it this time; she kept shooting on the side where my hair wasn't over my shoulder, so I looked all out of balance. We took it three times-then more.

6:12 P.M.
Jordan's coming up the walk, and I'm still in the living room! Run for it!

6:15
"Sarah?"
"Coming!"
I make my entrance, all Belle-like (favorite princess). Jordan is so handsome! He went all out and got a tuxedo. I have to admit I was impressed. We even matched perfectly, my brown dress the same shade as his vest. Awesome. The good-byes, good lucks, last minute instructions, and off we go!

6:20 P.M.
At MVHS, we get in line for pictures. Thing is, there was no line, so we just step right up and pose around the lightpost that is the prop (again). Very fun.

6:30 P.M.
Rest of group is late. Drew, Chels, Jordan, and I sit in The Zone and wait.

6:40 P.M.
Still waiting

6:50 P.M.
Say hello to people

7:00 P.M.
Finally they show up! Jane and Ann look so cute. Chelsea (Derek's) is pretty. Adam is spiffy, Jason is tall and cool, Derek is snazzy. All in all, we had a great group.

7:05 P.M.
Enter the Men in Black Protecting Barbie Doll Models, aka our group picture idea. Pretty sweet.

7:10 P.M.
Out the door for dinner!

Homecoming 2008-2009 Part I

All right, people, here comes the Homecoming Journal Entry. Dun dun duuuuuuuunnnnnnn!!!!

Saturday September 13 11:30 A.M.
I hate make-up. It's so complicated.

Saturday September 13 12:06 P.M.
Jordan is six minutes late. No big deal. I go upstairs and email some people telling them that he's six minutes late, and as I walk down the stairs there is a shadow at the door. Dad gets there first. Introductions are made, and out we go.

12:20 P.M.
The second group takes forEVER to get everyone into the car. We start to drive to the park where we are going to play frisbee golf.

12:30 P.M.
Lost.

12:40 P.M.
Still lost.

12:45 P.M.
Lost, lost, lost.

1:00 P.M.
Park!!! We have arrived and are able to pass out frisbees! Jordan actually spelled my name right, as he told everyone. It was pretty funny.

1:15 P.M.
First target is completed. Five throws for me, seven for Jordan. Lol.

1:30 P.M.
Second target complete. Four throws for me. Jordan stopped counting at seven. He lost track.

2:00 P.M.
Interest in frisbee golf has faded, as every single one of us (Jason, Jane, Adam, Ann, Derek, Chelsea, Andrew, Chelsea, Jordan, and me) suck at this game. We decide to take a nature walk through the wetlands in the park. Along the way we see pairs of dragonflies (awkward silences ensue), find a natural groundwater spring filled with goldfish (Jordan gets onto the edge, I fall over, and proceed to nearly fall in. Luckily he caught me.), and learn about the rare and exotic Peach-Leafed Willow Tree. It actually grows tiny peaches.

2:30 P.M.
Cookies, goldfish, licorice, soda, and water break out!!! Also, Drew, Jace, and Adam head over to the car, turn it on, and become so absorbed in the game that they forget where they are until Jordan coughs, "Um, guys? We're on a date?" Funny.
A game of Tag, You're It begins on the playground. Rules: You can only stay on the woodchips for two steps or for two seconds, whichever comes first. I won. Jordan tried to get me but failed. Haha!

2:45 P.M.
Time to go get ready!!!

Oh, and by the way. Going home we did not get lost, because we were not following Jason. :)

So, Mr. Brown has liked all of my work so far, which is amazing because I've only used Photoshop for about twenty minutes in my life. I'm so suprised at how great his feedback is; he never makes fun of me and he always has great stuff to say, even when I messed up.

Here's what I've got so far. It's a poster for one of the books I'm working on right now. Mr. Brown likes it, but he wants less lightning feel and a lot more torn/ripped texture. Which works better.

note

I'll post more on Homecoming tomorrow.

Oh, and I got the highest score in the class on my science test. 24/26, with the curve he placed 24/24. SWEET!!!

Homecoming Music

So, I got asked to Homecoming on Monday, and I went to the dance on Saturday. Here's a list of some of the fun songs (and the ones I remember right now, or know the names of) that they played:

Star Struck...

My list of favorite leading men (in no particular order, but * means I like them bestest):

1. Hayden Christensen*
2. Orlando Bloom*
3. Robert Pattinson
4. James McAvoy
5. Ben Barnes*
6. Christian Bale
7. Viggo Mortensen
8. Harrison Ford
9. William Moseley
10. Skandar Keynes
11. Ewan McGregor
12. Ioan Gruffud

I know some of them are older, but that doesn't make them any less gorgeous. ;)

Ugh

I don't get this. It's Labor Day Weekend, meaning that there is no school tomorrow. I ran errands yesterday, feeling perfectly normal. I bought toys (an art kit) for my sisters, a kickball which will potentially be used for a friend gathering, and a Darth Vader key chain. Practical while aesthetically pleasing (smirk).

So last night I couldn't sleep because I came down with a stupid cold. I don't understand how don't get sick when I'm actually supposed to be somewhere, like school. I do have a theory, however. I think that I am constantly fighting being sick so that I won't miss school, based on restrictions due to loss of participation points, etc. So when I finally get a "chance" to be laid on my back for a few days, it happens.

Lame.

Joke

I heard the funniest joke the other day. I have to admit that I laughed really hard.

K, here it is:

John McCain and Barrack Obama are stranding in a lifeboat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Who survives?

Changes II

There has been another change in my schedule. US History and Multimedia were so extremely full that they (the school) had to create new sections for the subject. I was placed in each new section, so now B days I have History B3 and Multimedia B4. Sweet sauce.

So, I am totally loving my Woodshop class. It is the best thing on the entire planet (of the small part of the world that I have seen, anyway)! The sounds of the machines, the weight of the tools, the smell of burning and fresh cut wood, the solitude of just me and whatever I am setting out to make. Sigh. It's so perfect. I absolutely love it.

Multimedia is pretty great too. We started learning to use Photoshop today. I've only used it once before, fiddling around in Digital Photograph in Jr. High. The assignment is to destroy a picture to your liking, and if it works for a second assignment, well done. The first project we have is to create a movie poster for one of our favorite movies, so I decided to create a poster of Susan and Prince Caspian.

General Layout-

Susan and Caspian, each with their weapon of choice standing side by side, with Susan slightly behind the prince. Not because Susan is weak because she's a girl, but because I like the idea that Caspian will protect her when she needs it. Us girls are tough, but occasionally we need a little rescuing. It looks cooler than it sounds, so I might post it when I get it finished.

Homecoming is in two weeks. I don't think I'll get asked. I'd love to go, you know. Ah, well. Whatever happens happens.

Changes

Change in schedule. Here's the new one:

A1-Seminary
A2-Spanish 4
A3-Environmental Science AP
A4-Woods 1/Ceramics

B1-Algebra II
B2-Adult Roles
B3-Multimedia
B4-History 1700

Yeah, I added an A4 class so that I'd get more concurrent enrollment credit. Ceramics just counts as an elective, but it sounded like fun. I take it next semester after I finish Woods 1. Speaking of that, there are about 35 of us in the class, with 31 members being boys. It's great for eye candy, but still...they don't talk much once they're in the "zone" with their work. Not much get to know each other time.

Still, it's great to just look. :D

And I think that school is good and bad at the same time. I like being there, but as soon as I get home I'm a freaking basket case. I dunno what it is...I'm so stressed and for no reason. Well, homework is the reason, but it still doesn't make much sense.

The World is Ending

My life is over. The blissful joy of nothing to do is about to fly out the window, reducing me to a pitiful creature who wants nothing more than to crawl into a hole and die. There is nothing left for me now, no happiness, no time, no nothing. Everything I know is going to change.

School starts tomorrow. Can you tell I'm excited?

A1-Seminary
A2-Spanish 4
A3-Environmental Science AP
A4-Gym

B1-Algebra II
B2-Adult Roles
B3-Multimedia
B4-History 1700

A0-English 11
B0-Horse Management

National Honor Society
HOSA
Piano Lessons-Thursday
Dance Lessons-Tuesday/Thursday

Work-2 1/2 hours per day, 5 days a week

See what I mean with no time? My life is over.

I'm actually kind of looking forward to this.

clarify

K, so the font size got totally messed up on that short story I just posted, but it won't let me fix it. Sorry about that.

Desiree

The New York air was full of excitement and lights, buzzing with activity. It was impossible to not be caught up in the amazing atmosphere. But there was one person who was the complete opposite of the confident and enthusiastic scene. A girl sat slumped against the wall of a large, flashy building. Her head was down, and her black hair hung in her eyes. A thundercloud hovered over her head, pulsing with the message of despair.

Desiree knew she had run out of luck. Ever since coming to this city, she knew she had made a mistake. Everything had been great for awhile. There was plenty of money in her pockets and plenty of opportunities to get the “big break” she’d always dreamed of. But soon the endless standing in line to audition and the constant stress had taken its toll. She had nothing now, not even a dollar for a pay phone.

I will not cry
, she thought, angrily rubbing her eyes. I can do this.

But there was nothing left to do. She had nothing and nowhere to go. She couldn’t make herself go into the building she was leaning against. She couldn’t handle another failure. Desiree leaned her head back and looked up at the tall buildings that towered over her head, never ending as they touched the sky.

“Hey, kid!”

A man looked over the railing of a window below her. Desiree twisted to peer up at him. He motioned to her.

“Come in here, I want to talk to you.”

She shook her head, immediately suspicious. Her gaze returned to her knees, her thoughts back on how to get out of this mess.

The door beside her opened. The man who had called to her stuck his head out the door. She glanced at him, sniffed, and looked away. He sighed loudly and slid down to sit next to her. He said nothing, but a silent understanding emanated from him. Desiree had a strange feeling that he wanted to say something.

“Talk,” she said shortly.

“About?” he asked.

Desiree shrugged, “Whatever it is you want to talk about.”

The man laughed softly.

“My name’s Stan.”

He paused, giving her a chance to reply. When she remained quiet, he continued.
“You’ve been sitting here for three hours.”

Again, Desiree said nothing.

Stan reached a hand into his coat pocket and pulled out a photograph. He handed it to her, and she looked at him, startled.

“Hey, what are you doing with this?” she cried, “This is my picture!”

He nodded.

“You’ve got potential, kid. I saw your audition the other day. You’ve got the looks, the voice, the style. With a little help, I think you could get on your way,” Stan said.

Desiree eyed him cautiously.

“Why do you want to help me?” she asked.

Stan sighed again.

“I was a lot like you when I was a kid. Ambitious, energetic, and a little bit too arrogant, or in some cases, afraid, to ask for help. I ended up all right, but not everybody is so lucky,” he explained.

Desiree raised an eyebrow, “What has that got to do with me?”

“Well, you could at least use a hand, right?”

Desiree shook her head, “I’m fine on my own. I don’t need you.”

It was quiet again for a minute. Stan reached into his pocket and pulled out a wallet.

“No. I don’t take anything from anybody,” Desiree started to say, but he forced a bill into her hand, along with a business card.

“When you feel like you’re ready, call that number. Your dreams can still come true, kid. Just don’t feel like you’ve got to do it alone.”

He stood up and went back into the building. Desiree stared at the card and the bill he had given her. She sat for a long time, just looking at the items in her hand.

Finally, she stood up. It was time to try again. She braced herself and pushed open the door. Stan sat at a desk, bent over a stack of papers. Desiree forced herself to walk to the desk. She stopped, but he didn’t look up.

“Ahem,” she said softly.

Stan looked up at her.

“Can I help you?” he asked.

Desiree took a deep breath.

“Yes, you can, actually.”

She handed him the card and the picture he had given her, along with the bill. He took them from her, glanced over them, then looked at her. He smiled a bright and genuine smile.

"Come on kid, let’s make you a star.”
